        1-3                                     of
        1-4                                O. P. Yowell
        1-5           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the
        1-6     citizens of Killeen in mourning the loss of prominent citizen
        1-7     O. P. "Pat" Yowell, who died recently at the age of 81; and
        1-8           WHEREAS, Born on March 17, 1916, in Elk, Texas, he graduated
        1-9     from Axtell High School and had lived in the Killeen area since
       1-10     1976; and
       1-11           WHEREAS, A man who loved the outdoors, Mr. Yowell was a
       1-12     rancher, cofounder of the Gross-Yowell Lumber Company in Waco, and
       1-13     a vice chairman of the board of Heights State Bank; and
       1-14           WHEREAS, A former resident of Waco, he had lived there from
       1-15     1946 to 1976; and
       1-16           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Mr. Yowell
       1-17     was respected for his many accomplishments; and
       1-18           WHEREAS, A man of honesty, courage, and generosity, he gave
       1-19     unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth, and
       1-20     valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and
       1-21           WHEREAS, Pat Yowell was a devoted husband, as well as a
       1-22     staunch friend, and his wise counsel and sound judgment will be
       1-23     remembered with gratitude by the loved ones and friends who sought
        2-1     his advice and friendship; and
        2-2           WHEREAS, Mr. Yowell leaves a legacy of compassion and
        2-3     commitment that will be remembered with gratitude by all who knew
        2-4     and loved him; now, therefore, be it
        2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
        2-6     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to his wife,
        2-7     Gerda Yowell, and his brother, Bill Yowell; and, be it further
        2-8           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the
        2-9     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from
       2-10     the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it
       2-11     do so in memory of O. P. "Pat" Yowell.
