1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 461

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing

        1-3     the Nederland Babe Ruth Little League all stars for winning the

        1-4     1996 World Championship in Dickinson, North Dakota; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, The road to the World Championship was difficult,

        1-6     but the all star team of 13-year-old boys won all the games they

        1-7     played and captured the state meet; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, Progressing to the regional meet, the all star team

        1-9     played against their opponent in Plainview, Texas, and lost the

       1-10     first game; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, The Nederland all stars now had to come back from

       1-12     defeat, which they did, and they won the regional meet; and

       1-13           WHEREAS, The Nederland Babe Ruth all stars include Ryan Cobb,

       1-14     Chris Guy, Colin Mann, Adam Metcalf, Michael Mitchell, Sean Yoder,

       1-15     Michael Montoya, Ryan Piletere, Brian Pomcroy, Joseph Ramoin,

       1-16     Colt Resch, Matthew Sanchez, Tim Thompson, Chaz Whitman, and

       1-17     Steven Young, all of whom played the game with all their might;

       1-18     and

       1-19           WHEREAS, Just making it to the world series is quite an

       1-20     accomplishment, and the Nederland Babe Ruth Little League all

       1-21     stars deservedly earned their place; and

       1-22           WHEREAS, This outstanding team played four wins and one

       1-23     loss, thereby taking the title of World Champions; and

        2-1           WHEREAS, Coaches Jerry Stanley, Leonard Ramoin, Barry Stelly,

        2-2     and Don Sanches and manager Archie Land deserve credit for the

        2-3     team's success; and

        2-4           WHEREAS, This memorable team's victories in numerous games

        2-5     and making it all the way to World Champions demonstrate the

        2-6     team's winning spirit, discipline, and courage; now, therefore,

        2-7     be it

        2-8           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-9     75th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Nederland Babe Ruth

       2-10     Little League all stars on their World Championship; and, be it

       2-11     further

       2-12           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

       2-13     team as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate.
