1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 465

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in

        1-3     recognizing Katherine Brennand for her recent induction into the

        1-4     El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Established in 1985, the El Paso Commission for

        1-6     Women has sought to ensure that all El Paso women are granted equal

        1-7     rights and responsibilities; the Hall of Fame grew from the need

        1-8     to know that women also receive equal recognition for their

        1-9     achievements; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, Celebrating its 11th year, the nonprofit commission

       1-11     has as one of its goals to recognize the contributions women have

       1-12     made to the El Paso community; and

       1-13           WHEREAS, Nominated in the civic leadership category,

       1-14     Katherine Brennand was the cofounder of the El Paso Volunteers

       1-15     in Public Schools Program; and

       1-16           WHEREAS, This outstanding woman also researched a project

       1-17     which resulted in the establishment of the El Paso Community

       1-18     Foundation; and

       1-19           WHEREAS, A woman of vision who has shown great strength of

       1-20     character, Katherine Brennand has been of great service to her

       1-21     community and the City of El Paso; certainly this woman is worthy

       1-22     of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

       1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-1     75th Legislature, hereby congratulate Katherine Brennand on being

        2-2     inducted into the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame and

        2-3     wish her every success in her future endeavors; and, be it further

        2-4           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her

        2-5     as an expression of the highest esteem and regard of the Texas Senate.
