1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 466 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Carolyn Laura Partee Parker for her recent induction 1-4 into the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame in the 1-5 professional category; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The El Paso Commission for Women is a nonprofit 1-7 organization that works to ensure equal rights and responsibilities 1-8 for El Paso women, and the group's Hall of Fame was created to 1-9 ensure that women receive equal recognition for their 1-10 accomplishments; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Carolyn Parker was nominated for the Hall of Fame 1-12 by Tri-State Beauty Schools, a business she has owned since the 1-13 late 1960s; she is noted for her superior administrative ability 1-14 and for being a friend and mentor to the beauty schools' students; 1-15 and 1-16 WHEREAS, A respected and beloved civic leader, Carolyn Parker 1-17 initiated a citywide voter registration drive for students and 1-18 customers of the city's career schools; and 1-19 WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented individual with extensive 1-20 expertise in her field, Carolyn Parker is a skilled businesswoman 1-21 who is dedicated to her work and to helping others, and she has 1-22 made numerous contributions to the El Paso community; now, 1-23 therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 75th Legislature, hereby commend Carolyn Parker on her excellent 2-3 work as owner of Tri-State Beauty Schools and extend 2-4 congratulations to her on her induction into the El Paso Commission 2-5 for Women Hall of Fame; and, be it further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-7 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-8 Shapleigh 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the above 2-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-13 on April 9, 1997. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
