1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 467

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to

        1-3     recognize Patricia T. Castiglia for her recent induction into

        1-4     the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame in the health care

        1-5     category; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, The El Paso Commission for Women is a nonprofit

        1-7     organization that works to ensure equal rights and responsibilities

        1-8     for El Paso women, and the group's Hall of Fame was created to ensure

        1-9     that women receive equal recognition for their accomplishments; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, Patricia Castiglia was nominated for the hall of

       1-11     fame by The University of Texas at El Paso, where she has served

       1-12     as dean of the university's College of Nursing and Health Sciences

       1-13     since 1990; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Under Patricia Castiglia's outstanding

       1-15     leadership, the enrollment at the college has more than

       1-16     doubled and five new programs have been implemented, including

       1-17     the graduate nurse-midwifery program, the family nurse practitioner

       1-18     program, and the women's health-care advanced nursing practice

       1-19     program; and

       1-20           WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented individual with

       1-21     extensive expertise in her field, Patricia Castiglia is an

       1-22     effective and dedicated administrator who has contributed greatly

       1-23     to The University of Texas at El Paso and to the El Paso community;

        2-1     now, therefore, be it

        2-2           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-3     75th Legislature, hereby commend Patricia Castiglia on her

        2-4     superior work as dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences

        2-5     at The University of Texas at El Paso and extend congratulations to

        2-6     her on her induction into the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of

        2-7     Fame; and, be it further

        2-8           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her

        2-9     as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
