1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 468
1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to
1-3 recognize Mary A. Lacy for her recent induction into the El Paso
1-4 Commission for Women Hall of Fame in the education category; and
1-5 WHEREAS, The El Paso Commission for Women is a nonprofit
1-6 organization that works to ensure equal rights and responsibilities
1-7 for El Paso women, and the group's Hall of Fame was created to ensure
1-8 that women receive equal recognition for their accomplishments; and
1-9 WHEREAS, Mary Lacy was nominated for the hall of fame by
1-10 Rosemary Neill of the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA),
1-11 El Paso del Norte Region, where she serves as the administrator of
1-12 the Teen Leadership program; and
1-13 WHEREAS, A resourceful individual and a highly effective
1-14 leader, Mary Lacy was responsible for the recent "Read on El Paso"
1-15 project for Make a Difference Day; as a result of her project,
1-16 thousands of books were contributed to the public library system;
1-17 and
1-18 WHEREAS, An exceptionally talented individual who served as
1-19 a schoolteacher for 32 years, Mary Lacy is an invaluable asset to
1-20 the YWCA, El Paso del Norte Region, and she has been a positive
1-21 influence on the lives of countless youths in the El Paso community;
1-22 now, therefore, be it
1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-1 75th Legislature, hereby commend Mary A. Lacy on her superior
2-2 work with the Young Women's Christian Association, El Paso del
2-3 Norte Region, and extend congratulations to her on her induction
2-4 into the El Paso Commission for Women Hall of Fame; and, be it further
2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her
2-6 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
