1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 479 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Estellar Lee Embry Belcher of Fort Worth, Texas, on 1-4 the joyous occasion of her 107th birthday on January 1, 1997; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Born January 1, 1890, in Overton, Texas, Estellar Lee 1-6 moved to Tyler as an adult and married Charlie Embry; the couple 1-7 had eight children, and Estellar was dedicated to her work as a 1-8 homemaker and as a cotton picker; and 1-9 WHEREAS, After Charlie Embry passed away, Estellar married 1-10 Houston Belcher; following Mr. Belcher's death, Estellar moved to 1-11 Fort Worth to live with her granddaughter, Ruby Johnson McEwing; 1-12 and 1-13 WHEREAS, Estellar Belcher has been privileged to witness 1-14 events most of us only read about in history books; and 1-15 WHEREAS, During her lifetime, she has witnessed two world 1-16 wars, the invention of television, and the landing of astronauts 1-17 on the moon; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Today, she enjoys reminiscing and takes pleasure 1-19 in the companionship of her family and friends; and 1-20 WHEREAS, A beloved and respected member of her community, 1-21 Estellar is noted for her courage, her strength, and her generosity 1-22 toward others; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 75th Legislature, hereby join the family and friends of 2-2 Estellar Belcher in extending best wishes to her and congratulations 2-3 on the grand occasion of her 107th birthday; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her 2-5 as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-6 Moncrief 2-7 ______________________________________ 2-8 President of the Senate 2-9 I hereby certify that the above 2-10 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-11 on April 10, 1997. 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Secretary of the Senate 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Member, Texas Senate
