1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 486

        1-2           WHEREAS, M. E. Williams and Loraine Williams placed great

        1-3     faith and trust in the future when they married 60 years ago,

        1-4     and they have been amply rewarded since the fortunate couple will

        1-5     celebrate their 60th anniversary on April 24, 1997; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, Married on April 24, 1937, in Mullin, Texas, the

        1-7     anniversary couple has lived in Mineola for the last 25 years; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years

        1-9     of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Williams have continued to

       1-10     embrace traditional family and moral values; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, Throughout the years, they have strengthened their

       1-12     love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and

       1-13     sorrows of everyday living; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Williams will be honored for their

       1-15     60th anniversary with a reception hosted by their children,

       1-16     Wayne Williams, Karen Snyder, and Olivia Viz; the gala reception

       1-17     will be held at the Mineola Civic Center on April 27, 1997; and

       1-18           WHEREAS, M. E. and Loraine Williams have been blessed with

       1-19     seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and

       1-20           WHEREAS, For 60 years, Loraine and M. E. have shared a

       1-21     strong and lasting marriage filled with many happy times and

       1-22     cherished family memories; built on a foundation of mutual love,

       1-23     trust, and support, their life together has been a source of joy

        2-1     and inspiration for a great many people; now, therefore, be it

        2-2           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-3     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to

        2-4     Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Williams on the auspicious occasion of their

        2-5     60th wedding anniversary; and, be it further

        2-6           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

        2-7     prepared for this distinguished couple as a memento of this notable

        2-8     day in their lives.
