 1-4                                     of

 1-5                           Richard Edward Mundine

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the family

 1-7     and many friends of Richard Edward Mundine in mourning his recent

 1-8     death at the age of 60; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Born in Rockdale on April 21, 1936, he grew up in

1-10     the Brenham area and attended Blinn Junior College; and

1-11           WHEREAS, A lifelong patriot, he served his country honorably

1-12     in the United States Air Force, where he was a member of the 4080th

1-13     Division assigned to the U-2 project; and

1-14           WHEREAS, After he completed his service to his country, he

1-15     continued his education at Southwest Texas State University, where

1-16     he earned his bachelor of science degree; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Mundine received his master's in business

1-18     management from The University of Texas at San Antonio and worked

1-19     on his doctorate with Nova University; and

1-20           WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman helped establish both

1-21     the San Antonio Youth Organization and GWJr.'s; he also served on

1-22     the faculty of Saint Philip's College for 10 years; and

1-23           WHEREAS, Mr. Mundine dedicated his last 28 years to education

 2-1     in the San Antonio and Northside independent school districts; his

 2-2     students respected him because they knew that he passionately cared

 2-3     about each of them; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, Noted for his excellence and dedication to his work,

 2-5     he enjoyed the admiration and esteem of his peers; they knew that

 2-6     his students were his life; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, Richard Edward Mundine was a devoted husband,

 2-8     father, and grandfather, as well as a staunch friend, and his

 2-9     wisdom and wise counsel will be remembered with gratitude by

2-10     the friends and loved ones who sought his advice and friendship;

2-11     now, therefore, be it

2-12           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-13     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

2-14     family of Richard Mundine:  his wife, Martha Sanchez Mundine;

2-15     his children, Dorothy Janelle, Kelly Ann, Richard Edward, Jr.,

2-16     William Joseph, Keith Allen, Michael James, and Matthew John;

2-17     his sister, Dorothy Mundine Ryden; and two grandsons; and, be it

2-18     further

2-19           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-20     his family as an expression of the deepest sympathy from the

2-21     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do

2-22     so in memory of Richard Edward Mundine.
