1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 498

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in

        1-3     recognizing Tuesday, April 22, 1997, as Tarrant County

        1-4     Fourth-Grader Day at Domino's Pizza Ranch; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, On April 22, approximately 5,000 fourth graders

        1-6     throughout Tarrant County will be learning that beef has Z.I.P.S.,

        1-7     a three-ounce serving of beef is a piece of meat the size of a deck

        1-8     of cards, and eating with pyramid power and washing one's hands are

        1-9     keys to good health; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, The Texas Agricultural Extension Service sponsors

       1-11     and supports programs aimed at educating adults and youths on the

       1-12     complex relationships among food systems, agriculture, and the

       1-13     environment; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, As part of that educational effort, the Extension

       1-15     Food and Fiber Committee in Tarrant County has joined with Domino's

       1-16     Pizza and other agribusinesses to present Domino's Pizza Ranch; and

       1-17           WHEREAS, At the Will Rogers Equestrian Center, fourth graders

       1-18     will not only dine on pizza, but will learn that each piece is a

       1-19     slice of agriculture and that raising livestock and farming play a

       1-20     large part in creating the world's most popular food; and

       1-21           WHEREAS, During this festive event, teachers and students

       1-22     will also be treated to ice cream, cheese, yogurt, and other food

       1-23     products as part of an endeavor to heighten public awareness of the

        2-1     tremendous role agriculture plays in our lives and why protecting

        2-2     our environment is so vital to our state; now, therefore, be it

        2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-4     75th Legislature, hereby commend the sponsors of this occasion

        2-5     and extend best wishes to all Tarrant County fourth graders for a

        2-6     food-and-fun-filled day at Domino's Pizza Ranch; and, be it further

        2-7           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared in

        2-8     honor of the sponsors of Domino's Pizza Ranch as an expression of

        2-9     esteem from the Texas Senate.
