1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 499

        1-2           WHEREAS, Alfred and Barbara Schnieders were married 50 years

        1-3     ago on April 26, 1947, at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church

        1-4     in Kansas City, Kansas; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Alfred and Barbara raised three children, Bob, Carol,

        1-6     and Larry, who love their parents very much; and

        1-7           WHEREAS, The anniversary couple is blessed with four wonderful

        1-8     and talented grandchildren, Kelly, Elizabeth, Patrick, and Brenton;

        1-9     and

       1-10           WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years

       1-11     of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Schnieders have continued to

       1-12     embrace traditional family and moral values; and

       1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Schnieders have many close ties to

       1-14     the State of Texas, including the fact that Alfred lived in the

       1-15     Oak Cliff section of Dallas during the 1930s; and

       1-16           WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Schnieders often vacationed throughout

       1-17     Texas over the years of their marriage, and now they visit their

       1-18     youngest son and his family in Texas at least once a year; and

       1-19           WHEREAS, Loving, patient, and loyal, Barbara and Alfred

       1-20     have been exemplary parents; and

       1-21           WHEREAS, By having mutual respect, a sense of humor,

       1-22     zest for life, and an unwavering love for one another,

       1-23     Mr. and Mrs. Schnieders serve as an outstanding example of

        2-1     a couple with a long, happy, and successful marriage; and

        2-2           WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Alfred and Barbara

        2-3     is certainly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it

        2-4           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-5     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to

        2-6     Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schnieders on the auspicious occasion of

        2-7     their 50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further

        2-8           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared

        2-9     for this distinguished couple as a memento of this notable day in

       2-10     their lives.
