1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 511 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing 1-3 Robert Lee Hatcher, Jr., who was selected as an Outstanding Texan 1-4 Award Winner in the field of education by the Texas Legislative 1-5 Black Caucus at its third biannual weekend celebration held 1-6 March 20 through 22, 1997; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Born in Mobile, Alabama, in 1959, Robert Lee Hatcher 1-8 graduated from Blount High School and attended Texas Southern 1-9 University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in music 1-10 education; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Throughout his life, Mr. Hatcher has been devoted 1-12 to children and their concerns; he taught violin lessons at 17 1-13 when he was a freshman at Texas Southern, and he worked with 1-14 children at a psychiatric hospital for 11 years; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Mr. Hatcher's goal is to have a positive impact on 1-16 the lives of children; gathering together boys and girls from the 1-17 inner city, he has shared his love of music with them; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Rewarded by having the opportunity to make music, 1-19 these children performed in Austin, Washington, D.C., and 1-20 Los Angeles; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-22 75th Legislature, hereby congratulate Robert Lee Hatcher, Jr., 1-23 on his selection as an Outstanding Texan Award Winner by the 2-1 Texas Legislative Black Caucus; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-3 him as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate. 2-4 Ellis 2-5 ______________________________________ 2-6 President of the Senate 2-7 I hereby certify that the above 2-8 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-9 on April 16, 1997. 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Secretary of the Senate 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Member, Texas Senate
