1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 529

        1-2           WHEREAS, Jerome Davidson is retiring from the Texas

        1-3     Department of Criminal Justice on April 30, 1997, after 25

        1-4     years of distinguished service, and the Texas Senate takes

        1-5     great pleasure in honoring him on this notable occasion; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, The esteemed gentleman has faithfully served the

        1-7     people of Texas in several important positions throughout his

        1-8     tenure with the parole division and has earned the respect and

        1-9     admiration of his colleagues; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. Davidson began his duties with the Texas Board

       1-11     of Pardons and Paroles on January 2, 1972, as a parole officer in

       1-12     the Corpus Christi office; over the years he has ably served with

       1-13     integrity and professionalism in whatever position he was assigned;

       1-14     and

       1-15           WHEREAS, During his career, Jerome Davidson served with

       1-16     distinction as parole analyst, senior parole analyst, deputy

       1-17     compact administrator, assistant director of regular supervision,

       1-18     and assistant director of review and release processing; and

       1-19           WHEREAS, Mr. Davidson was respected by his employees and

       1-20     was always aware of his responsibilities as a good parole officer;

       1-21     under his careful supervision, important changes and improvements

       1-22     were made; one of his major contributions was initiating the

       1-23     Electronic Monitoring Program; and

        2-1           WHEREAS, His broad experience and versatility proved

        2-2     invaluable to the parole division, and he will be deeply missed

        2-3     by all who had the pleasure of working with him; now, therefore,

        2-4     be it

        2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-6     75th Legislature, hereby express its deep appreciation to

        2-7     Jerome Davidson for his exceptional contributions to the Texas

        2-8     Department of Criminal Justice and extend best wishes to him for

        2-9     a most rewarding and enjoyable retirement; and, be it further

       2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be presented to

       2-11     Mr. Davidson as an expression of the high regard of the

       2-12     Texas Senate.
