1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 544 1-2 WHEREAS, Iris A. Pryor and Jim H. Mathews placed great faith 1-3 and trust in the future when they married 50 years ago, and they 1-4 have been amply rewarded since the fortunate couple celebrated their 1-5 50th anniversary on March 16, 1997; and 1-6 WHEREAS, They were married on March 16, 1947, at the 1-7 First Baptist Church in DeKalb, and their honor attendants were 1-8 Mrs. Mary Lee King and G. D. "Skinner" Roden; the wedding couple 1-9 spent their honeymoon in Hot Springs, Arkansas; and 1-10 WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the 1-11 years of their marriage, yet Iris and Jim Mathews have continued 1-12 to embrace traditional family and moral values; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Throughout the years, they have strengthened their 1-14 love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and 1-15 sorrows of everyday living; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Mathews have been blessed with two 1-17 children, Marie Elizabeth Jamison and Jim Don Mathews; and 1-18 WHEREAS, For half a century, Jim and Iris have shared a 1-19 strong and lasting marriage filled with many happy times and 1-20 cherished family memories; built on a foundation of mutual love, 1-21 trust, and support, their life together has been a source of joy 1-22 and inspiration for a great many people; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to 2-2 Mr. and Mrs. Jim H.
