1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 574

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing

        1-3     the 136th Medical Squadron of the United States Air Force for its

        1-4     philanthropic efforts in assisting the people of Honduras; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, These compassionate volunteers are travelling to

        1-6     Honduras on April 5 through 19, 1997, to deliver aid to inhabitants

        1-7     in the remote part of the country; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, This group of humanitarians is risking their health

        1-9     and their lives in order to bring assistance to the sorely tried

       1-10     residents of the area; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, The intrepid members of this squadron are also

       1-12     treating livestock to prevent the spread of disease from livestock

       1-13     to the inhabitants; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, The 29 people making this dangerous trek

       1-15     are:  Patricia C. Abdul, James Allen, Jr., Robin L. Anderson,

       1-16     Michael Bowen, Robert Britt, Cynthia A. Govea, Mack P. Santoyo,

       1-17     Jo Clement, Erica L. Cloud, David C. Dairymple, Gregory A. Perry,

       1-18     Patrick E. Dopieralskl, Garry D. Fincher, Diana L. Josey-Hart,

       1-19     Marylou M. Larios, Lonnie S. Segovia, Darrylene D. Breedenbergh,

       1-20     Chris S. Ledford, Maritta L. Loo, Jennifer McGuire, John Woodward,

       1-21     Melinda J. McPherson, Eric R. Niedermayer, Frederico R. Romero,

       1-22     Lanett S. Reeves, William S. Rowe, Steven C. Russell, John A. Kemp,

       1-23     and Stephen A. Schorr; and

        2-1           WHEREAS, These merciful medical missionaries are truly worthy

        2-2     of legislative recognition; now, therefore, be it

        2-3           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-4     75th Legislature, hereby commend the brave personnel who have made

        2-5     the trip to Honduras and administered aid; and, be it further

        2-6           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for these

        2-7     brave men and women as an expression of the great goodwill of the

        2-8     Texas Senate.
