1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 582 1-3 In Memory 1-4 of 1-5 Nathan D. Maier 1-6 WHEREAS, The passing of Nathan D. Maier on April 16, 1997, 1-7 at the age of 47, has brought a great loss to the family and many 1-8 friends of this distinguished Dallas resident; and 1-9 WHEREAS, The son of A. D. and Myrtle Maier, he was born 1-10 February 11, 1950, in Frankfurt, Germany; he wed the lovely 1-11 Jean Blakney Maier, and the couple nurtured a deeply fulfilling 1-12 union that spanned 12 years; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Mr. Maier was the founder and president of 1-14 Nathan D. Maier Consulting Engineers, Incorporated, and his hard 1-15 work and expertise have made the firm a leader in the field of 1-16 civil engineering at the state and regional levels; his vast 1-17 accomplishments earned him well-deserved acclaim, for he was 1-18 honored with numerous professional awards; and 1-19 WHEREAS, Despite the rigorous demands of his profession, 1-20 Mr. Maier consistently made time in his schedule to serve the 1-21 community in leadership capacities with several local organizations, 1-22 including the Greater Dallas Crime Commission, the North Dallas 1-23 Chamber of Commerce, and Dean Learning Center, and he was awarded 2-1 many prestigious accolades for his stalwart commitment to his 2-2 fellowman; and 2-3 WHEREAS, Nathan Maier left an indelible mark on the Dallas 2-4 community during his years on this earth, and though his special 2-5 presence will be deeply missed, his memory will long endure in the 2-6 hearts and minds of all who knew and loved him; now, therefore, be it 2-7 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-8 75th Legislature, hereby pay tribute to the life of Nathan D. Maier 2-9 and extend sincere condolences to the members of his family: his 2-10 wife, Jean Blakney Maier; his children, Heidi Lynn Maier, 2-11 Eric Daniel Maier, and Heather Elizabeth Maier; his parents, 2-12 A. D. and Myrtle Maier; his brother, Gary Maier; and the many other 2-13 friends and relatives of this esteemed gentleman; and, be it further 2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-15 for the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy 2-16 from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, 2-17 it do so in memory of Nathan D.
