1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 584

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure

        1-3     in recognizing Pat Shores for her selection as the Wichita Falls

        1-4     Independent School District's Teacher of the Year for 1996-1997;

        1-5     and

        1-6           WHEREAS, Pat Shores has taught school for 20 years and is a

        1-7     second-grade teacher at the West Foundation; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, Exceptionally resourceful and dedicated, Pat Shores

        1-9     is an enthusiastic educator with a warm sense of humor who has

       1-10     distinguished herself in her profession; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, Her students have greatly benefitted from her

       1-12     skillful teaching methods, her sincere concern for the individual,

       1-13     and her wise counsel and encouragement; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Pat Shores is noted for creating a positive

       1-15     environment for students that allows risk-free learning, and she

       1-16     instills in her students a sense of pride and accomplishment; now,

       1-17     therefore, be it

       1-18           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-19     75th Legislature, hereby commend Pat Shores for her superior

       1-20     contributions to the Wichita Falls Independent School District and

       1-21     extend best wishes to her for many rewarding years ahead; and, be

       1-22     it further

       1-23           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for her

        2-1     as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
