 1-4                                     of

 1-5                            Malcolm Eugene Dorman

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens

 1-7     of Orange in mourning the loss of Malcolm Eugene Dorman, who died

 1-8     recently at the age of 68; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Born in Kopperl, Texas, Malcolm Dorman was

1-10     a resident of Orange for the past 40 years; he served in the

1-11     United States Air Force during the Korean War and earned his law

1-12     degree in 1957; he began his law practice with the firm of Hustmyer

1-13     and Harris; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Mr. Dorman was named president of the

1-15     Orange County Bar Association in 1965, and in 1972, he

1-16     formed his own law firm with his partner, James R. Dunaway;

1-17     he was dedicated to his profession and was one of the leading

1-18     attorneys in the Orange community; and

1-19           WHEREAS, Mr. Dorman also served for many years as an Orange

1-20     Municipal Court judge and was greatly admired for his work in the

1-21     legal system; he retired from his private practice as an attorney

1-22     in 1991 and from the municipal court in 1993; and

1-23           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,

 2-1     Malcolm Dorman was respected for his many accomplishments and

 2-2     was a well-known civic leader; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, He drew up the original charter for the Service

 2-4     League of Orange and was a director at Orange Savings Bank; he

 2-5     served on the Orange County Child Welfare Board and was active in

 2-6     the Red Silk Stocking Review to benefit local charities; he was a

 2-7     member of the Orange Lions Club; and

 2-8           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, compassion, and

 2-9     generosity, he gave unselfishly of his time to others and to his

2-10     community, and his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be

2-11     forgotten by those who knew him; and

2-12           WHEREAS, A devout Christian, Malcolm Dorman was a member of

2-13     First Baptist Church, where he taught Sunday school for more than

2-14     20 years; and

2-15           WHEREAS, Malcolm Dorman was a devoted husband, father, and

2-16     grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured

2-17     forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it

2-18           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-19     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

2-20     bereaved family of Malcolm Eugene Dorman: his wife, Jane C. Dorman;

2-21     his daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Doug Patterson; his son and

2-22     daughter-in-law, Paul and Zulema Dorman; his mother, Helen Dorman;

2-23     and his six grandchildren; and, be it further

2-24           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-25     the members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy

 3-1     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,

 3-2     it do so in memory of Malcolm Dorman.
