1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 594

        1-2           WHEREAS, The occasion of a 100th birthday is an

        1-3     exceptionally joyous one and calls for great celebration, and

        1-4     so it will be for Mrs. Mae Gilbert, who will be 100 years old

        1-5     on May 2, 1997; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, Born May 2, 1897, she has been privileged to witness

        1-7     things that most of us can only read about in history books; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, The endearing memories of her long sojourn in this

        1-9     world are evident as she recalls tales of years past; Mrs. Gilbert

       1-10     has earned the respect and friendship of all who know her; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, A beloved member of her community, Mrs. Gilbert is

       1-12     noted for her courage and exemplary enthusiasm for living each

       1-13     day to the fullest; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Charming, knowledgeable, and wise, Mrs. Gilbert has

       1-15     an engaging personality; and

       1-16           WHEREAS, This remarkable gentlewoman is truly deserving of

       1-17     the long and happy life with which she has been blessed; now,

       1-18     therefore, be it

       1-19           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-20     75th Legislature, hereby declare Mrs. Mae Gilbert a treasured

       1-21     citizen of her town and state; and, be it further

       1-22           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this

       1-23     notable lady as a memento of this occasion and as an expression

        2-1     of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate.
