 1-4                                     of

 1-5                           David Keith Tankersley

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens

 1-7     of Gladewater in paying tribute to the life of and honoring the

 1-8     memory of David Keith Tankersley, who died February 28, 1996, at

 1-9     the age of 45; and

1-10           WHEREAS, Born September 6, 1950, in Lamesa, Texas,

1-11     David Tankersley received his bachelor's degree and master's degree

1-12     from Tarleton State University; he served as a junior high school

1-13     coach in Comanche and moved to Gladewater in 1983; and

1-14           WHEREAS, Mr. Tankersley was a coach and teacher in Gladewater

1-15     schools from 1983 to 1992 and was the principal of Gay Avenue School

1-16     in Gladewater; he was the seventh-grade and eighth-grade coach in

1-17     Gilmer schools from 1993 until his death; and

1-18           WHEREAS, An exceptionally dedicated teacher and coach,

1-19     David Tankersley was admired by his students, who benefitted greatly

1-20     from his sincere concern for the individual and his wise counsel

1-21     and encouragement; and

1-22           WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman, David Tankersley had a

1-23     positive impact on the lives of others and was known for his

 2-1     patience and his genuine love and understanding of people; and

 2-2           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he

 2-3     gave unselfishly of his time to others and to his community, and

 2-4     his wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will not be forgotten by

 2-5     those who knew him; and

 2-6           WHEREAS, David Tankersley was a devoted husband and father

 2-7     who lived his life to the fullest, and he leaves behind memories

 2-8     that will be treasured forever by his family and many friends; now,

 2-9     therefore, be it

2-10           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-11     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

2-12     bereaved family of David Keith Tankersley:  his wife, Latricia;

2-13     his sons, David Dalton and Tanner Lynn; his parents,

2-14     Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Tankersley; and his sister, Ruth Ann Lackey;

2-15     and, be it further

2-16           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

2-17     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from

2-18     the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it

2-19     do so in memory of David Keith Tankersley.
