 1-5                                Olin J. Crow

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the

 1-7     citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Olin J. Crow, who

 1-8     died April 11, 1997, at the age of 81; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Born in Linden, Texas, Olin Crow moved to Austin

1-10     to serve as a page in the Texas Legislature in 1929; he became an

1-11     avid follower of the Texas Senate and loyally continued to attend

1-12     its opening day ceremonies throughout his life; and

1-13           WHEREAS, Mr. Crow was dedicated to his work with

1-14     Harrison-Wilson Pearson and the Texas National Agency until

1-15     his retirement; and

1-16           WHEREAS, A veteran of World War II, Mr. Crow was a devout

1-17     Christian and a longtime member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where

1-18     he served as a deacon; and

1-19           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman, Olin Crow

1-20     was respected for his accomplishments and was a beloved citizen of

1-21     Austin; and

1-22           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, strength, and generosity, he

1-23     gave unselfishly of his time to others, and his wisdom, warmth,

 2-1     and valued counsel will not be forgotten by those who knew him; and

 2-2           WHEREAS, Olin Crow was a devoted husband, father, and

 2-3     grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be treasured

 2-4     forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore, be it

 2-5           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-6     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

 2-7     bereaved family of Olin J. Crow:  his wife of 60 years,

 2-8     Fannie P. Crow; his daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Joel Raymond;

 2-9     his sons, James T. Crow and Forest E. Crow; and his eight

2-10     grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and, be it further

2-11           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

2-12     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from

2-13     the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day,

2-14     it do so in memory of Olin J. Crow.
