 1-4                                     of

 1-5                          Addie Maxine Lang Locklin

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the citizens

 1-7     of Sonora in mourning the loss of Addie Maxine Lang Locklin, who

 1-8     died March 4, 1997, at the age of 80; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Born February 25, 1917, in Texoma, Oklahoma,

1-10     Addie Lang Locklin had a successful career as a municipal judge

1-11     in Sonora; she began her career in law enforcement as a secretary

1-12     in the police department; after serving as court clerk, she became

1-13     municipal judge of Sonora, a position in which she served until the

1-14     time of her death; and

1-15           WHEREAS, An active and respected voice in the Sonora community,

1-16     Addie Locklin initiated numerous projects and programs on behalf of

1-17     area citizens, such as the Child Protection Board, The Angel Project,

1-18     Family Shelter, the Winter Coat Program, and The School Advisory; and

1-19           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished lady, Addie Locklin was

1-20     respected for her many accomplishments as a municipal judge and as

1-21     a civic leader; and

1-22           WHEREAS, A woman of integrity, strength, compassion, and

1-23     generosity, she gave unselfishly of her time to others and to

 2-1     her community, and her wisdom, warmth, and valued counsel will

 2-2     not be forgotten by those who knew her; and

 2-3           WHEREAS, Addie Locklin was a devoted wife, mother, and

 2-4     grandmother, and she leaves behind memories that will be treasured

 2-5     forever by her family and many friends; now, therefore, be it

 2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

 2-7     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

 2-8     bereaved family of Addie Maxine Lang Locklin:  her son and

 2-9     daughter-in-law, William Robert and Janice Ellingson; her sisters,

2-10     Erma Eaton, Betty Hurst, and Ruth Cooper; her brothers, Gene Lang,

2-11     Bill Whittemore, and Bob Whittemore; and her three grandchildren

2-12     and three great-grandchildren; and, be it further

2-13           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

2-14     members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy from

2-15     the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it

2-16     do so in memory of Addie Maxine Lang Locklin.
