1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 648

        1-2           WHEREAS, On May 16, 1997, the Board of Trustees and

        1-3     President's Council of Presbyterian Healthcare Resources will

        1-4     honor Douglas D. Hawthorne for his many accomplishments in the

        1-5     health care industry, and this auspicious occasion is truly

        1-6     worthy of special praise and recognition; and

        1-7           WHEREAS, For 25 years, Mr. Hawthorne has lent his sound

        1-8     judgment and organizational skills to the direction of Presbyterian

        1-9     Healthcare System, and his outstanding contributions to the company

       1-10     have been honored with the creation of the Douglas D. Hawthorne

       1-11     Endowed Scholarship for Excellence in Health Care Leadership; and

       1-12           WHEREAS, A fitting tribute to Mr. Hawthorne's talent and

       1-13     dedication, the fund will foster diversity in the organization's

       1-14     leadership positions while creating new opportunities for promising

       1-15     candidates; and

       1-16           WHEREAS, The committed professionals who work to ensure

       1-17     the health and well-being of their communities are wholly deserving

       1-18     of the gratitude and admiration of their fellow Texans, and it is

       1-19     indeed appropriate at this time to recognize Douglas Hawthorne's

       1-20     praiseworthy efforts in this field; now, therefore, be it

       1-21           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-22     75th Legislature, hereby honor Douglas D. Hawthorne for his

       1-23     lifetime of service and extend to him sincere best wishes for

        2-1     continued success and happiness in the future; and, be it further

        2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be

        2-3     prepared for Mr. Hawthorne as an expression of high regard by the

        2-4     Texas Senate.
