1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 676

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in

        1-3     recognizing Leo L. Baker for his outstanding service on behalf

        1-4     of the senior citizens of our state; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Born June 18, 1914, in Gate, Oklahoma, Leo Baker

        1-6     graduated from the University of Oklahoma and has been a resident

        1-7     of Texas since 1938; he is a retired petroleum engineer who was

        1-8     formerly employed by DeGolyer and MacNaughton, Petroleum

        1-9     Consultants; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, Mr. Baker is currently a member of the Texas Silver

       1-11     Haired Legislature Steering Committee for Dallas; as a committee

       1-12     member, he helps to keep the State Legislature informed of the

       1-13     needs of older Texans and encourages the participation of senior

       1-14     citizens in the legislative process; and

       1-15           WHEREAS, A man of many talents and interests, Leo Baker

       1-16     is active in the American Association of Retired Persons and

       1-17     serves as the Health Care chairman in Chapter 12 and the

       1-18     Legislative chairman in Chapter 2940; he is a member of the

       1-19     Metropolitan Dallas Legislative Council of AARP/RTA; and

       1-20           WHEREAS, He is a member representative of the Association

       1-21     of Senior Citizens Groups of Dallas and serves as an auxiliary

       1-22     driver for Meals on Wheels; a member of Lovers Lane United Methodist

       1-23     Church, he serves on the Older Adults Council and is a lay hospital

        2-1     visitor; and

        2-2           WHEREAS, An exemplary and distinguished gentleman,

        2-3     Leo Baker is a mentor and a source of strength to the people of

        2-4     Dallas, and his contributions to the senior citizens of our state

        2-5     have been invaluable; now, therefore, be it

        2-6           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-7     75th Legislature, hereby commend Leo L. Baker on his exceptional

        2-8     dedication and hard work on behalf of the senior citizens of Texas

        2-9     and extend to him best wishes for the future; and, be it further

       2-10           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

       2-11     him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
