1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 681

        1-2           WHEREAS, Imogene and Wayne Poe of Scurry were married 50 years

        1-3     ago on February 1, 1947, in Kerens, Texas; and

        1-4           WHEREAS, The loving couple raised three children, Tommy Poe,

        1-5     Barbara Sharpe, and Phyllis Ray; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, The anniversary couple is blessed with seven talented

        1-7     grandchildren and two wonderful great-grandchildren; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years

        1-9     of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Poe have continued to embrace

       1-10     traditional family and moral values; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, Mr. Poe served his country honorably with the

       1-12     United States Navy during World War II; he is now the semiretired

       1-13     owner of Poe Motors, and Mrs. Poe is now a full-time homemaker; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Loving, patient, and loyal, Wayne and Imogene Poe have

       1-15     been exemplary parents; and

       1-16           WHEREAS, By having mutual respect, a sense of humor, zest for

       1-17     life, and an unwavering love for one another, Mr. and Mrs. Poe serve

       1-18     as outstanding examples of a couple with a successful marriage; and

       1-19           WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Poe is

       1-20     certainly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it

       1-21           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-22     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to

       1-23     Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Poe on the auspicious occasion of their

        2-1     50th wedding anniversary; and, be it further

        2-2           RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be prepared

        2-3     for this distinguished couple as a memento of this notable day in

        2-4     their lives.
