1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 696 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing Noble Gilstrap, who is retiring after 35 years with 1-4 Circle Ten Council Boy Scouts of America and over 40 years as a 1-5 professional scouter; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Noble Gilstrap was born in Greenville, Texas, and 1-7 graduated from Prairie View A&M University; he holds a master's 1-8 degree from East Texas State University; and 1-9 WHEREAS, Mr. Gilstrap began his outstanding career with the 1-10 Circle Ten Council Boy Scouts of America in 1962 as a Division 1-11 Scout Executive for the northern part of the council; he became 1-12 the Field Director for the Southern Service area in 1978, the 1-13 position in which he still serves; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mr. Gilstrap and his wife, Dr. Myrna Gilstrap, a 1-15 professor at East Texas State University, have had a positive 1-16 influence on the lives of thousands of Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, 1-17 Explorers, Adult Volunteers, Scout Professionals, and communities 1-18 throughout North Texas; and 1-19 WHEREAS, In honor of Mr. Gilstrap's exceptional work with 1-20 the Boy Scouts of America, a reception is being held in his honor 1-21 on Saturday evening, May 24, 1997, at the Circle Ten Council Boy 1-22 Scouts of America Headquarters, in Dallas, Texas; now, therefore, 1-23 be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 75th Legislature, hereby commend Noble Gilstrap on his 2-3 invaluable contributions to the youths of our state and hereby 2-4 declare Saturday, May 24, 1997, Noble Gilstrap Day; and, be it 2-5 further 2-6 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-7 Noble Gilstrap as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-8 West 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the above 2-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-13 on May 9, 1997. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
