1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 702

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pride in recognizing

        1-3     Dr. Carlos Camino Munoz on the occasion of his visit to the

        1-4     Texas State Capitol on Friday, May 9, 1997; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Dr. Camino is the vice president of the European

        1-6     Commission and a member of the cabinet in charge of external

        1-7     relations with Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, and

        1-8     Southern Mediterranean countries; and

        1-9           WHEREAS, The distinguished Dr. Camino is here under the

       1-10     auspices of the United States Information Agency's International

       1-11     Visitor Program; and

       1-12           WHEREAS, A highly educated man, he has a doctorate from the

       1-13     University of Madrid; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Seeking to broaden his understanding of American

       1-15     politics, this outstanding individual is eager to learn about the

       1-16     United States' foreign policy toward Europe and Cuba, its drug

       1-17     enforcement policy, and its trade policy; and

       1-18           WHEREAS, The citizens of Texas are honored to have Dr. Camino

       1-19     as a visitor in the Lone Star State, and it is sincerely hoped that

       1-20     his visit here is an enjoyable one; now, therefore, be it

       1-21           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-22     75th Legislature, hereby extend hospitality and a warm welcome to

       1-23     Dr. Carlos Camino Munoz on his stay here; and, be it further

        2-1           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this

        2-2     prestigious visitor as an expression of the high regard and esteem

        2-3     of the Texas Senate.
