1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 710

        1-2           WHEREAS, On May 3, 1997, the Park Crest Middle School

        1-3     beginner band from Pflugerville performed at the Schlitterbahn

        1-4     Wave Revues Music Festival in New Braunfels; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, The band earned superior first division ratings

        1-6     from each of the three judges; and

        1-7           WHEREAS, Made up of 130 students from the sixth grade, the

        1-8     Park Crest Middle School band students were designated the best

        1-9     beginner band of the festival; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, The Park Crest band also earned a special

       1-11     "best in class" trophy to spotlight the unique accomplishment;

       1-12     and

       1-13           WHEREAS, For the second year in a row, the Park Crest

       1-14     beginner band was chosen as the festival's outstanding beginner

       1-15     band; and

       1-16           WHEREAS, The newest middle school in the Pflugerville

       1-17     Independent School District, Park Crest is only two years old;

       1-18     the band program consists of half the student enrollment of 400

       1-19     students; and

       1-20           WHEREAS, The success of the band brings honor to the

       1-21     students, their families, their school, and their community;

       1-22     now, therefore, be it

       1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-1     75th Legislature, hereby congratulate the Park Crest Middle School

        2-2     beginner band on its superb accomplishment; and, be it further

        2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

        2-4     the school as an expression of the high esteem and regard of the

        2-5     Texas Senate.
