1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 712 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride in 1-3 recognizing the Mill Creek Homeowners Association on the grand 1-4 occasion of the first anniversary of Peak's Suburban Addition 1-5 Historic District; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The Peak's Suburban Addition Historic District has 1-7 its beginnings in a large tract of land owned in the last half of 1-8 the 19th century by Captain Jefferson Peak; since Captain Peak's 1-9 home was located a good distance from downtown Dallas, he decided 1-10 to subdivide his property and create a neighborhood; he named the 1-11 subdivision Peak's Suburban Addition; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Several years ago, after the neighborhood had 1-13 radically deteriorated, a group of volunteers from Mill Creek 1-14 Homeowners Association decided to restore the area and began working 1-15 with the preservation section of the Dallas Department of Planning 1-16 and Development; and 1-17 WHEREAS, These dedicated volunteers set up boundaries, 1-18 met with committees at City Hall, and created criteria for 1-19 the district; on March 9, 1996, the Dallas City Council designated 1-20 the neighborhood Peak's Suburban Addition Historic District; and 1-21 WHEREAS, The celebration of the first anniversary of Peak's 1-22 Suburban Addition Historic District takes place May 17, 1997, with 1-23 the unveiling of a City of Dallas historical marker by Captain 2-1 Peak's descendants; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 75th Legislature, hereby commend the members of the Mill Creek 2-4 Homeowners Association on their hard work and perseverance and 2-5 express appreciation to them for their successful preservation 2-6 and renovation of this historic district; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-8 Mill Creek Homeowners Association as an expression of esteem from 2-9 the Texas Senate. 2-10 Cain 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the above 2-14 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-15 on May 12, 1997. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
