1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 719

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is pleased to

        1-3     recognize the eminent Charles Louis Joekel on the joyful occasion

        1-4     of his 58th birthday on June 2, 1997; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Born in Houston, Texas, on June 2, 1939, he is proud

        1-6     to call himself a native Houstonian; and

        1-7           WHEREAS, Charles Joekel and his wife, Linda Joekel, have been

        1-8     blessed with a son and daughter-in-law, Ken and Gwen Joekel, and

        1-9     a grandson, Ryan Joekel, all of whom have been the source of great

       1-10     pride and joy; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, This distinguished gentleman is on the board of

       1-12     directors for the Houston Variety Club and is a corporate sponsor

       1-13     of the Houston Rodeo and Livestock Show; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, Always interested in the youth of his community,

       1-15     he has been the patron of various Little League and soccer teams

       1-16     and Boy Scout troops; and

       1-17           WHEREAS, Currently serving on the board of directors for

       1-18     Houston Children's Charities, Mr. Joekel has also sponsored

       1-19     several different Galveston County Sheriff members' functions; and

       1-20           WHEREAS, The thoughts and wishes of his many friends in

       1-21     Houston are with Mr. Joekel as he observes his birthday; now,

       1-22     therefore, be it

       1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-24     75th Legislature, hereby commend Charles Louis Joekel on his

        2-1     birthday and wish him many more years of health and happiness;

        2-2     and, be it further

        2-3           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

        2-4     him as an expression of the highest esteem of the Texas Senate.
