1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 723

        1-2           WHEREAS, Essie B. Moore is retiring from the Dallas public

        1-3     schools on May 24, 1997, after 21 years of distinguished service,

        1-4     and the Texas Senate is pleased to extend congratulations to her

        1-5     on this notable occasion; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, In her role as a dietician supervisor, Mrs. Moore

        1-7     was responsible for providing nourishing meals to all students

        1-8     and adults under her administration; she often paid for breakfasts

        1-9     or lunches out of her own pocket for children who were hungry and

       1-10     had no money; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, She has performed her duties with dignity and pride

       1-12     each day throughout her tenure and has earned the admiration and

       1-13     respect of all those with whom she worked; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, In addition to her dedicated service to ensuring

       1-15     the good health of those in her care, Essie has volunteered

       1-16     countless hours over the years to helping the elderly as well

       1-17     as the young people in her community; and

       1-18           WHEREAS, A very nurturing individual and devoted Christian,

       1-19     Essie Moore is a member of Greater New Zion Baptist Church; the

       1-20     first Saturday of every month she serves meals to the sick and

       1-21     shut-in members of her church; and

       1-22           WHEREAS, Essie B. Moore is truly an exemplary person who

       1-23     has made a profound difference in her community through her

        2-1     compassion and willingness to serve others; now, therefore, be it

        2-2           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-3     75th Legislature, hereby express its deep appreciation to

        2-4     Essie B. Moore for her special contributions to the Dallas

        2-5     public schools and to her community; and, be it further

        2-6           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

        2-7     her as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate with

        2-8     best wishes for a most enjoyable retirement.
