1-1 1 1-2 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 739 1-3 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to honor City of Dallas 1-4 Mayor Pro Tem Max W. Wells for his outstanding contributions in the 1-5 Dallas community; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Deeply committed to public service, Mayor Pro 1-7 Tem Wells is a former member of the community's planning and zoning 1-8 commission, the Dallas Area Rapid Transit Board, the city Parks and 1-9 Recreation Department Board, and the Radio Commission; and 1-10 WHEREAS, He has drawn on his vast experience since beginning 1-11 his tenure on the Dallas City Council more than eight years ago, and 1-12 he further serves his fellow citizens as chair of the city's finance 1-13 and audit committee; and 1-14 WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Wells's tenure has been marked by 1-15 accomplishments in a variety of initiatives; in addition to 1-16 playing a key role in the development and modification of the 1-17 Far North Dallas Land Use Plan, he has actively supported the 1-18 construction of a fire station to better serve the citizens of 1-19 Dallas and has encouraged strong ties with the Richardson, Plano, 1-20 and Carrollton-Farmers Branch independent school districts and 1-21 Dallas, Denton, and Collin counties; and 1-22 WHEREAS, This respected official has worked for the betterment 1-23 of communities across the state and nation through his involvement 2-1 with the Texas Municipal League, the National League of Cities, 2-2 and the Texas Foundation for Local Government; his hard work and 2-3 dedication have brought him well-deserved acclaim, and he has been 2-4 a valued member of the Texas attorney general's municipal advisory 2-5 committee since 1993; and 2-6 WHEREAS, The founder, chairman, and chief executive officer 2-7 of The Oaks Bank and Trust Company, Mayor Pro Tem Wells has also 2-8 found time in his busy schedule to hold positions of leadership 2-9 with the Dallas Convention and Visitors Bureau, the East Dallas 2-10 Rotary Club, the North Dallas Chamber of Commerce, the Oak Cliff 2-11 Jaycees, and Goodwill Industries of Dallas; and 2-12 WHEREAS, In all his endeavors, he has enjoyed the love and 2-13 support of his devoted wife, Margaret, and the couple's two sons, 2-14 and in recent years their close-knit family has grown to include 2-15 four grandchildren; and 2-16 WHEREAS, Mayor Pro Tem Max Wells has greatly enhanced the 2-17 quality of life in the Dallas community, and his exceptional 2-18 commitment is a source of inspiration to all who know him; now, 2-19 therefore, be it 2-20 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-21 75th Legislature, hereby honor Mayor Pro Tem Max W.
