1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 740 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in 1-3 recognizing James Aron Horn, who has recently been accepted into 1-4 the United States Military Academy at West Point; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Founded in 1802, the prestigious United States 1-6 Military Academy is noted for the excellence of the officers who 1-7 graduate from this hallowed institution; to be accepted at 1-8 West Point, a candidate must be nominated by designated officers 1-9 or organizations; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Known for its strict standards and adherence to 1-11 tradition, West Point only accepts cadets between the ages of 1-12 17 and 22; upon graduation, a cadet obtains a bachelor's degree 1-13 and a commission in the United States Army as a second lieutenant; 1-14 and 1-15 WHEREAS, Very few students ever receive the honor of attending 1-16 West Point, and Jim Horn is one of only a handful from Texas to be 1-17 accepted in 1997; and 1-18 WHEREAS, An exemplary young man, Jim lives in Denton, Texas, 1-19 where he attends Liberty Christian School and is an honor student; 1-20 a well-rounded individual, he is president of the student body and 1-21 a letterman in both football and track; and 1-22 WHEREAS, Through hard work and determination over many years, 1-23 Jim has achieved the goal he set for himself, and he is known for 2-1 his pursuit of excellence in all his endeavors; now, therefore, 2-2 be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 75th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to James Aron Horn 2-5 on receiving an appointment to the United States Military Academy 2-6 at West Point with best wishes for future success in all his 2-7 endeavors; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-9 Jim as an expression of the admiration and high regard of the 2-10 Texas Senate. 2-11 Fraser 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on May 15, 1997. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
