1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 756

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of Texas takes pleasure in recognizing

        1-3     the grand opening of the Mabrie Memorial Mortuary on Sunday,

        1-4     May 18, 1997; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, The new mortuary symbolizes the combined efforts

        1-6     of many people in Third Ward and greater Houston communities; the

        1-7     construction of the mortuary is evidence of the great dedication

        1-8     and creative vision of these people; and

        1-9           WHEREAS, Founded in 1993 in order to offer a viable

       1-10     alternative to modern and traditional memorial services for

       1-11     bereaved families, the Mabrie Memorial Mortuary offers a

       1-12     specialized service in a comfortable environment for families

       1-13     in their time of need; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, The Mabrie Mortuary pays homage to the essence and

       1-15     traditions of ancient Egypt, whose citizens were the world's most

       1-16     famous embalmers; and

       1-17           WHEREAS, Committed to sympathetic interpersonal assistance,

       1-18     the mortuary is dedicated to unselfish service to others and is

       1-19     an invaluable asset to the community; now, therefore, be it

       1-20           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-21     75th Legislature, hereby extend congratulations to the Mabrie

       1-22     Memorial Mortuary on its grand opening; and, be it further

       1-23           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

        2-1     mortuary as an expression of the high esteem of the Texas Senate.
