1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 759

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure

        1-3     in recognizing National Association of Insurance Women Week,

        1-4     May 18 through May 24, 1997; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, Over 50 percent of those employed in the insurance

        1-6     industry are professional insurance women, and the National

        1-7     Association of Insurance Women and its 400 local affiliates are

        1-8     dedicated to the development of leaders for the insurance industry;

        1-9     and

       1-10           WHEREAS, Through education, networking, and leadership

       1-11     opportunities for all women in the insurance business, the

       1-12     National Association of Insurance Women and its affiliates

       1-13     promote personal and professional development; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, National and local organizations work diligently to

       1-15     raise the standards of ethics, consumer education, and customer

       1-16     service throughout the industry; and

       1-17           WHEREAS, In addition, local affiliates are engaged in

       1-18     charitable causes to strengthen and enhance hundreds of communities

       1-19     throughout the United States, Canada, and Puerto Rico; and

       1-20           WHEREAS, For their notable accomplishments in the

       1-21     economically vital insurance industry, professional insurance

       1-22     women have earned recognition; this special week is set aside

       1-23     to honor the women who work in the risk and insurance industry;

       1-24     now, therefore, be it

        2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-2     75th Legislature, hereby commend professional insurance women

        2-3     and declare May 18 through May 24, 1997, National Association of

        2-4     Insurance Women Week; and, be it further

        2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this

        2-6     distinguished group as an expression of the appreciation and respect

        2-7     of the Texas Senate.
