1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 797 1-2 WHEREAS, Tim Hodges has admirably served the County of Denton 1-3 and the State of Texas since February 3, 1987, and the Texas Senate 1-4 is proud to recognize this distinguished gentleman for his 1-5 exceptional contributions; and 1-6 WHEREAS, A dedicated and industrious individual, Mr. Hodges 1-7 served with distinction as Deputy County Clerk and Chief Deputy 1-8 County Clerk until his election as County Clerk in November, 1990; 1-9 he has continued to serve in that capacity, bringing about needed 1-10 changes in his department to better serve the people of 1-11 Denton County; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Tim Hodges was responsible for the transition of 1-13 the Denton County Clerk's Office into the electronic age with the 1-14 introduction of state-of-the-art voting, including on-line early 1-15 voting and optical scan election day voting; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Since his election to fill the Office of 1-17 County Clerk, Mr. Hodges has also modernized all Denton County 1-18 Courts-at-Law through computerization and the introduction and 1-19 installation of digitized deed records; and 1-20 WHEREAS, He has continually and consistently met the 1-21 challenges presented by one of the fastest growing counties in the 1-22 nation; Denton County has grown from 96,000 registered voters in 1-23 1987 to 214,000 registered voters in 1997; and 2-1 WHEREAS, During his tenure, the county clerk has fostered an 2-2 attitude of serving the citizens of Denton County in an expeditious 2-3 and friendly manner; and 2-4 WHEREAS, His exemplary work in carrying forward his duties 2-5 has earned him the respect of his fellow county clerks and members 2-6 of the state legislature, who have invited him to testify before 2-7 numerous legislative committees; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 75th Legislature, hereby express its deep appreciation to 2-10 Tim Hodges and commend him for his 10 years of valuable service 2-11 to the citizens of Denton County and to the State of Texas; and, 2-12 be it further 2-13 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-14 Mr. Hodges as an expression of the high regard of the Texas Senate. 2-15 Nelson 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 President of the Senate 2-18 I hereby certify that the above 2-19 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-20 on May 21, 1997. 2-21 ______________________________________ 2-22 Secretary of the Senate 2-23 ______________________________________ 2-24 Member, Texas Senate
