1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 812 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pride 1-3 in recognizing Amanda Blackburn on her recent nomination for 1-4 The American Legion Award; and 1-5 WHEREAS, Amanda was selected as a nominee for this award 1-6 by the teachers of Paul Revere Middle School in Houston; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The American Legion Award is the highest honor 1-8 presented to a student in middle school; the award represents the 1-9 honor, courage, scholarship, leadership, service, and patriotism 1-10 that the school hopes to develop in all of its students; and 1-11 WHEREAS, Amanda Blackburn is an honor roll student and a 1-12 star softball player; she was elected outstanding cheerleader 1-13 for 1997; and 1-14 WHEREAS, A talented and industrious student and a superior 1-15 athlete, Amanda is a model for students of all ages in the 1-16 State of Texas; and 1-17 WHEREAS, An exemplary young lady with an engaging 1-18 personality, Amanda strives for excellence in all of her 1-19 endeavors and is a source of much pride to her family, her 1-20 school, and her community; now, therefore, be it 1-21 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 1-22 75th Legislature, hereby commend Amanda Blackburn on her many 1-23 accomplishments and extend congratulations to her on her most 2-1 recent honor; and, be it further 2-2 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-3 her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-4 Brown 2-5 ______________________________________ 2-6 President of the Senate 2-7 I hereby certify that the above 2-8 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-9 on May 22, 1997. 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 Secretary of the Senate 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 Member, Texas Senate
