1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 822

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas takes pleasure in

        1-3     recognizing Jan Helen Holland for her selection as a finalist for

        1-4     the El Paso Independent School District 1997 Teacher of the Year

        1-5     title; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, Jan Holland is a kindergarten teacher at Dr. Green

        1-7     Elementary School; she has eight years of teaching experience; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, A dedicated teacher with innovative instructional

        1-9     strategies, Jan Holland is an enthusiastic educator who has assisted

       1-10     with a wide array of student activities over the years; and

       1-11           WHEREAS, She is a Vertical Team representative for

       1-12     Dr. Green Elementary School, the El Paso Independent School

       1-13     District presenter of information to Headstart children's parents,

       1-14     and chairman of "Coronado in Conquest"; and

       1-15           WHEREAS, Her instructional strategies include the use of

       1-16     a team teaching approach using the dual language program and

       1-17     a design technology program in which students become "little

       1-18     engineers"; and

       1-19           WHEREAS, Students of Jan Holland have greatly benefitted from

       1-20     her skillful teaching methods and her concern for the individual;

       1-21     she has armed her pupils with the skills necessary to compete in

       1-22     the society of tomorrow; now, therefore, be it

       1-23           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-1     75th Legislature, hereby commend Jan Helen Holland on her

        2-2     contributions to the students of the El Paso Independent School

        2-3     District and extend best wishes to her for the years ahead; and,

        2-4     be it further

        2-5           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

        2-6     her as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate.
