 1-5                           Rebecca Hinojosa-Guerra

 1-6           WHEREAS, The citizens of Willacy County deeply mourned

 1-7     the tragic death of Rebecca Hinojosa-Guerra, who died recently

 1-8     at the age of 42; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, The beloved wife of Juan Angel Guerra, Mrs. Guerra

1-10     was the devoted mother of four children:  Consuelo, Severa, Celeste,

1-11     and Agustin; and

1-12           WHEREAS, Rebecca was born in Casa Grande, Arizona, in 1954,

1-13     the oldest of three children of Celestino Hinojosa Benavidez of

1-14     Ballinger, Texas, and Mrs. Consuelo Hinojosa Mendoza of

1-15     Hayden, Arizona; and

1-16           WHEREAS, Rebecca and her two brothers, Reynaldo and Rene,

1-17     lived in Nuevo Leon, Mexico, as children and later returned to

1-18     the United States to pursue their careers; and

1-19           WHEREAS, She entered Pan American University in Edinburg

1-20     at the age of 27, and, although she had to overcome the language

1-21     barrier at first, she graduated in four years with a bachelor's

1-22     degree in education; and

1-23           WHEREAS, After teaching first grade for a year, Mrs. Guerra

 2-1     worked alongside her husband for several years; a dedicated wife

 2-2     and mother who provided a loving home for her family, she worked

 2-3     diligently to instill in her children important values; and

 2-4           WHEREAS, A woman of various interests and talents, she

 2-5     enjoyed reading and music; she also found pleasure in the arts,

 2-6     traveling, and decorating; and

 2-7           WHEREAS, An exemplary individual, Rebecca Guerra was

 2-8     respected in her community for her notable accomplishments and

 2-9     her love for her family; and

2-10           WHEREAS, Known for her compassion and generosity, Rebecca

2-11     gave unselfishly of her time to others; her wisdom, warmth, and

2-12     sound advice will not be forgotten by all those who knew her and

2-13     valued her friendship; and

2-14           WHEREAS, She leaves behind memories that will be treasured

2-15     forever by her family and friends; now, therefore, be it

2-16           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-17     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the

2-18     bereaved family of Rebecca Hinojosa-Guerra:  her husband,

2-19     Juan Angel Guerra; her daughters, Consuelo, Severa, and Celeste;

2-20     her son, Agustin Angel; her father, Celestino Hinojosa Benavidez;

2-21     her mother, Consuelo Hinojosa Mendoza; and her brothers,

2-22     Reynaldo Hinojosa and Rene Hinojosa; and, be it further

2-23           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

2-24     the members of her family as an expression of deepest sympathy

2-25     from the Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this

 3-1     day, it do so in memory of Rebecca Hinojosa-Guerra.
