1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 844

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas proudly recognizes

        1-3     Dr. W. R. Fuller for his 50 years of loyal service as Pastor of

        1-4     Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church of Houston; and

        1-5           WHEREAS, A native of Shreveport/Keatchi, Louisiana,

        1-6     Dr. Fuller began serving in the Houston ministerial community

        1-7     in 1935 and served as the pastor of several churches from 1937

        1-8     to 1947; he founded Mount Bethel Missionary Baptist Church in

        1-9     May of 1947; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, Over the last 50 years, Pastor Fuller has ministered

       1-11     faithfully to the spiritual needs of innumerable Christians; and

       1-12           WHEREAS, Under Pastor Fuller's outstanding leadership,

       1-13     the church has provided enlightenment, hope, and support to the

       1-14     citizens of Clinton Park, Galena Park, and San Jacinto City; and

       1-15           WHEREAS, Dedicated to helping others, this beloved pastor

       1-16     has devoted his time and energy unselfishly to the members of

       1-17     his church and the residents of Harris County; and

       1-18           WHEREAS, A man of spiritual depth and devotion,

       1-19     Pastor Fuller has performed countless ceremonies and has

       1-20     prayed for and counselled his church members during their

       1-21     hardships and in times of bereavement; an exemplary gentleman

       1-22     whose zest for life is inspirational, Pastor Fuller will celebrate

       1-23     his 84th birthday in September of 1997; now, therefore, be it

        2-1           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

        2-2     75th Legislature, hereby join the members of Mount Bethel

        2-3     Missionary Baptist Church in commending Pastor Fuller for his

        2-4     fervent service to his church, his fellowman, and his community;

        2-5     and, be it further

        2-6           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared

        2-7     for him as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
