1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 856
1-2 WHEREAS, Charles D. "Chuck" Sudduth has completed his term
1-3 as chairman of the Texas Association of Nurserymen (TAN), and the
1-4 members of this chamber are proud to honor him for his exemplary
1-5 service to this organization; and
1-6 WHEREAS, Prior to his appointment as TAN chairman-elect in
1-7 1995, Mr. Sudduth served as Region 6 director from 1986 to 1994
1-8 and as Region 6 president from 1983 to 1985; he currently acts as
1-9 president of his own company, Chuck Sudduth Associates, and his
1-10 efforts to beautify the Lubbock area are truly commendable; and
1-11 WHEREAS, A graduate of Anton High School, Mr. Sudduth
1-12 embarked on a career in the military from 1951 to 1955, when he
1-13 served with the United States Air Force in Topeka, Kansas; in
1-14 1959, he earned a degree in park management and design from
1-15 Texas Tech University before beginning an accomplished career
1-16 in this field; and
1-17 WHEREAS, Mr. Sudduth's 12-year tenure as a landscape
1-18 architect with Six Flags Over Texas included the design of an
1-19 award-winning landscape installation for the renowned theme park;
1-20 more recently, he has worked for Lubbock's Country Gardens Nursery
1-21 and Jenco Nursery, where his wife remains a valued employee; and
1-22 WHEREAS, This remarkable man is active in his community,
1-23 serving as a deacon at Sunset Church of Christ and as vice
2-1 president of Lubbock Memorial Arboretum; in addition, his term as
2-2 secretary-treasurer of Daybreak Toastmasters was highly successful;
2-3 and
2-4 WHEREAS, Charles D. "Chuck" Sudduth's commitment to
2-5 excellence in the field of landscape architecture is an inspiration
2-6 to all who know this talented and dedicated man, and his many years
2-7 of service to the Texas Association of Nurserymen have earned him
2-8 widespread respect and admiration; now, therefore, be it
2-9 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,
2-10 75th Legislature, hereby commend Charles D. "Chuck" Sudduth for
2-11 his outstanding service as chairman of the Texas Association of
2-12 Nurserymen and extend to him sincere best wishes for continued
2-13 success and happiness in the years to come; and, be it further
2-14 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be
2-15 prepared for Mr. Sudduth as an expression of high regard by the
2-16 Texas Senate.
