1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 861 1-2 WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to recognize 1-3 Stephen Beattie of Houston, Texas, on achieving the rank of 1-4 Eagle Scout; this fine young man joined the elite corps of Eagles 1-5 recently and was presented the coveted Eagle Badge at a Court of 1-6 Honor; and 1-7 WHEREAS, Few achieve this distinguished honor; only two out 1-8 of every 100 boys in the Boy Scout program ever attain the rank of 1-9 Eagle Scout; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Following the principles of the Scout oath and 1-11 promise, Stephen advanced through the ranks of Tenderfoot, Second, 1-12 First, Star, and Life classes before reaching Eagle Scout; and 1-13 WHEREAS, This personable young man has displayed leadership 1-14 through planning, developing, and conducting a service project; 1-15 he is truly a shining example to his fellow Scouts and citizens of 1-16 his community; and 1-17 WHEREAS, Stephen's summers and Friday nights have been spent 1-18 helping his church community at the Houston Bishop's Storehouse; 1-19 and 1-20 WHEREAS, In being named Eagle Scout, Stephen brings great 1-21 honor to himself, his family, his troop, his community, and his 1-22 state; now, therefore, be it 1-23 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-1 75th Legislature, hereby commend Stephen Beattie on receiving 2-2 this prestigious honor and congratulate him on his outstanding 2-3 achievement; and, be it further 2-4 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-5 Eagle Scout Beattie as an expression of high regard and esteem 2-6 from the Texas Senate. 2-7 Lindsay 2-8 ______________________________________ 2-9 President of the Senate 2-10 I hereby certify that the above 2-11 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-12 on May 26, 1997. 2-13 ______________________________________ 2-14 Secretary of the Senate 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Member, Texas Senate
