1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 866 1-2 WHEREAS, Winston and Velma West of Floresville, Texas, 1-3 placed great faith and trust in the future when they were 1-4 married by the Justice of the Peace in San Antonio, Texas, on 1-5 September 5, 1947, and they will be amply rewarded when they 1-6 celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary; and 1-7 WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years 1-8 of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. West have steadfastly embraced 1-9 traditional family and moral values; and 1-10 WHEREAS, Mr. West served in the United States Navy as 1-11 a telegraph operator and then established himself as a barber 1-12 for 40 plus years while Mrs. West was a full-time homemaker; the 1-13 couple worked harmoniously together to provide both materially and 1-14 spiritually for their family; and 1-15 WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their 1-16 love and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and 1-17 sorrows of everyday living; and 1-18 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. West have been blessed with a 1-19 wonderful family; their children, Steve, Joy, and Lee, and their 1-20 two grandchildren, Wendy and Wesley Moore of Fairfield, Texas, 1-21 have been a source of much pride and joy; and 1-22 WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. West is 1-23 truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it 2-1 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-2 75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to 2-3 Mr. and Mrs. Winston West on their golden wedding anniversary; 2-4 and, be it further 2-5 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for 2-6 this distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in 2-7 their lives. 2-8 Ogden 2-9 ______________________________________ 2-10 President of the Senate 2-11 I hereby certify that the above 2-12 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-13 on May 26, 1997. 2-14 ______________________________________ 2-15 Secretary of the Senate 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Member, Texas Senate
