1-1                          SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 869

        1-2           WHEREAS, The Texas Senate is proud to recognize Valerie Monda

        1-3     of Duncanville, Texas, on achieving the Girl Scout Gold Award; this

        1-4     fine young woman was presented the coveted award on June 5, 1997,

        1-5     in Dallas, Texas, by the Tejas Girl Scout Council; and

        1-6           WHEREAS, Few achieve this distinguished award, the highest

        1-7     honor bestowed on girls in the Girl Scout program; and

        1-8           WHEREAS, Following the principles of the Girl Scout oath and

        1-9     promise, Valerie advanced through the ranks of Girl Scouting; and

       1-10           WHEREAS, This personable young lady has displayed leadership

       1-11     through planning, developing, and conducting a service project;

       1-12     she is truly a shining example to other Girl Scouts and citizens

       1-13     of her community; and

       1-14           WHEREAS, In receiving the Gold Award, Valerie brings great

       1-15     honor to herself, her family, her council, her community, and her

       1-16     state; now, therefore, be it

       1-17           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

       1-18     75th Legislature, hereby commend Valerie Monda on receiving this

       1-19     prestigious honor and congratulate her on her outstanding

       1-20     achievement; and, be it further

       1-21           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for

       1-22     Valerie as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.
