1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 903 1-2 WHEREAS, Frances Sparks and Roy Hawkins placed great faith 1-3 and trust in the future when they married on April 24, 1932, in 1-4 Hugo, Oklahoma, and they have been amply rewarded as they recently 1-5 celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary; and 1-6 WHEREAS, The world has changed considerably during the years 1-7 of their marriage, yet Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins of Commerce, Texas, have 1-8 steadfastly embraced traditional family and moral values; and 1-9 WHEREAS, During their years of marriage each developed important 1-10 skills and contributed to the well-being of colleagues; Mr. Hawkins 1-11 retired after 33 years of service with the Cotton Belt Railroad, and 1-12 Mrs. Hawkins owned and operated Studio of Flowers in Commerce; and 1-13 WHEREAS, Over the years, they have grown stronger in their love 1-14 and devotion as together they have experienced the joys and sorrows 1-15 of everyday living; and 1-16 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins have been blessed with a wonderful 1-17 family; their children, Roy Gene and Mary Neeley Hawkins, James and 1-18 Bernice Porton Hawkins, and Ann Hawkins and Jimmy David Babb; and 1-19 their eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren have been a 1-20 source of much pride and joy; and 1-21 WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins shared their happiness with 1-22 their family and friends at an anniversary dinner hosted by their 1-23 children on April 24, 1997; and 2-1 WHEREAS, The long and happy union of Mr. and Mrs. Hawkins is 2-2 truly an inspiration to us all; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere congratulations to 2-5 Mr. and Mrs. Roy Hawkins on their 65th wedding anniversary; and, 2-6 be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for this 2-8 distinguished couple as a memento of this special day in their lives. 2-9 Cain 2-10 ______________________________________ 2-11 President of the Senate 2-12 I hereby certify that the above 2-13 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-14 on May 28, 1997. 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 Secretary of the Senate 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Member, Texas Senate
