1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 926 1-2 WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas is proud to 1-3 recognize Richard Greene for his 10 years of outstanding service 1-4 as the Mayor of Arlington, Texas; and 1-5 WHEREAS, During his tenure, Richard Greene has used his 1-6 superior administrative and organizational skills to successfully 1-7 manage the far-reaching responsibilities of a mayor's position; and 1-8 WHEREAS, Richard Greene brought a wealth of knowledge to his 1-9 five-term service as Mayor of Arlington; he formerly served on the 1-10 city council for two terms and was chairman of the planning and 1-11 zoning commission for nine years; and 1-12 WHEREAS, Well known for his devotion to the Arlington 1-13 community and to his work, Richard Greene rarely missed a Tuesday 1-14 meeting during his 13 years of service on the council; and while 1-15 serving as mayor, he has been noted for making himself available 1-16 to talk with members of the community at all hours of the day and 1-17 night; and 1-18 WHEREAS, His distinguished public service as mayor has 1-19 included coordinating the activities of city departments and 1-20 fostering numerous neighborhood and citywide projects on behalf 1-21 of area residents; and 1-22 WHEREAS, In 1992, he led a successful fight to retain the 1-23 General Motors plant in Arlington; he also worked diligently to 2-1 keep the Texas Rangers baseball team in the city; and 2-2 WHEREAS, An exemplary gentleman and a skillful leader, 2-3 Mr. Greene is admired and respected by his colleagues in city 2-4 government and by the citizens of Arlington; and 2-5 WHEREAS, The Arlington community has greatly benefitted 2-6 from the dedication and generous spirit of this talented elected 2-7 official; now, therefore, be it 2-8 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-9 75th Legislature, hereby commend Richard Greene for his 2-10 invaluable contributions to the City of Arlington and extend 2-11 to him best wishes for the years ahead; and, be it further 2-12 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared 2-13 for him as an expression of esteem from the Texas Senate. 2-14 Harris 2-15 ______________________________________ 2-16 President of the Senate 2-17 I hereby certify that the above 2-18 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-19 on May 29, 1997. 2-20 ______________________________________ 2-21 Secretary of the Senate 2-22 ______________________________________ 2-23 Member, Texas Senate
