1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 947 1-2 WHEREAS, The Texas Legislature created the Sunset Advisory 1-3 Commission in 1977, and, during the intervening 20 years, the 1-4 Sunset Commission has reviewed more than 250 state agencies; and 1-5 WHEREAS, The resulting legislative action has improved the 1-6 operation of state government through the elimination of unnecessary 1-7 agencies, increased efficiency of those continued, and a 50-to-1 1-8 return on the state dollars used to fund the sunset process; and 1-9 WHEREAS, During the current review period, under the able 1-10 leadership of Representative Gray and Senator Armbrister, the 1-11 Sunset Commission has continued its tradition of excellence in 1-12 state government by providing the legislature with more than 100 1-13 recommendations to improve state government; and 1-14 WHEREAS, The Sunset Commission has a small, dedicated staff 1-15 that spent countless hours traveling and researching, analyzing, 1-16 and preparing reports providing recommendations for consideration; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, This staff of dedicated employees under the 1-19 direction of Joey Longley includes: Dawn Brinkman, 1-20 Katherine Closmann, Colin Coe, Lisa Conley, Larry Graham, 1-21 John Hawkins, Steve Hopson, John Hubbard, Barbara Hunley, 1-22 Mike Johnson, Jennifer Jones, Charla Ann King, Susan Kinney, 1-23 Ken Levine, Zoe Messinger, Rachelle Sanchez, Jay Schmidt, 2-1 Joe Walraven, and Cindy Womack; now, therefore, be it 2-2 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-3 75th Legislature, hereby extend to the Sunset Commission and its 2-4 staff this expression of gratitude for a job well done in assisting 2-5 the legislature in its efforts to improve the efficiency and quality 2-6 of state government; and, be it further 2-7 RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the 2-8 Sunset Advisory Commission as an expression of highest regard from 2-9 the Texas Senate. 2-10 Armbrister 2-11 ______________________________________ 2-12 President of the Senate 2-13 I hereby certify that the above 2-14 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-15 on June 2, 1997. 2-16 ______________________________________ 2-17 Secretary of the Senate 2-18 ______________________________________ 2-19 Member, Texas Senate
