                                 R E S O L U T I O N

 1-1           BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate of the State of Texas, 75th

 1-2     Legislature, Regular Session, 1997, That Senate Rules 12.03 and

 1-3     12.05 be suspended in part as provided by Senate Rule 12.08 to

 1-4     enable the conference committee appointed to resolve the

 1-5     differences on Senate Bill No. 1440 to consider and take action on

 1-6     the following specific matter:

 1-7           Senate Rules 12.03(1) and 12.05(2) are suspended to permit

 1-8     the committee, in the definition of "qualifying lease," in Section

 1-9     202.057(a)(6), Tax Code, as added by the bill, to strike "during

1-10     the effective period of this bill" and substitute "on or after

1-11     September 1,  1997,".

1-12           Explanation:  The conference committee requests this

1-13     suspension of limitations to clarify, without making any

1-14     substantive change in the language adopted by either the house of

1-15     representatives or the senate, that the words "effective period of

1-16     this bill" mean the period of time "on or after September 1, 1997."
