 1-4                                     of

 1-5                             Gary Ralph Anderson

 1-6           WHEREAS, The Senate of the State of Texas joins the

 1-7     citizens of Austin in mourning the loss of Gary Ralph Anderson,

 1-8     who died May 5, 1997, at the age of 56; and

 1-9           WHEREAS, Born November 19, 1940, in Austin, Texas,

1-10     Gary Anderson grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated from the

1-11     W. B. Ray High School in 1958; and

1-12           WHEREAS, He attended Texas A&M University, where he was

1-13     active in a wide array of student activities; he excelled in the

1-14     Corps of Cadets and served as the Deputy Corps Commander in 1961

1-15     and 1962; he was a member of the Ross Volunteers and graduated

1-16     with a bachelor of arts degree in marketing in 1962; and

1-17           WHEREAS, Mr. Anderson served for two years in the

1-18     Intelligence Branch of the United States Army; he spent the

1-19     early years of his professional career with IBM Corporation as

1-20     a marketing representative and with the EDS Corporation in the

1-21     Healthcare Business Unit; and

1-22           WHEREAS, Gary Anderson was dedicated to his work and was a

1-23     highly talented executive who became president of Execucom

 2-1     Corporation in Austin, where he served for eight years; he returned

 2-2     to EDS Corporation in 1991, where he served as group executive and

 2-3     corporate vice president in charge of the Manufacturing Industry

 2-4     Business Unit; and

 2-5           WHEREAS, A man of integrity, courage, and generosity, he gave

 2-6     unselfishly of his time to others, and he will long be remembered

 2-7     for his strength of character, sense of humor, and compassion for

 2-8     his fellowman; and

 2-9           WHEREAS, A devout Christian, he was a member of Custer Road

2-10     United Methodist Church; and

2-11           WHEREAS, Gary Anderson was a devoted husband, son, brother,

2-12     father, and grandfather, and he leaves behind memories that will be

2-13     treasured forever by his family and many friends; now, therefore,

2-14     be it

2-15           RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas,

2-16     75th Legislature, hereby extend sincere condolences to the bereaved

2-17     family of Gary Ralph Anderson:  his wife, Kathy Adcock Anderson;

2-18     his daughters and sons-in-law, Kimberly and Robert Hudson and

2-19     Kari and Mark Loth; his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and

2-20     Melinda Anderson; his parents, Ralph and Margaret Anderson; his

2-21     brother, David Anderson; his sister, Kathy Howard; and his two

2-22     grandchildren; and, be it further

2-23           RESOLVED, That a copy of this Resolution be prepared for the

2-24     members of his family as an expression of deepest sympathy from the

2-25     Texas Senate, and that when the Senate adjourns this day, it do so

 3-1     in memory of Gary Anderson.
