1-1 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1007 1-2 WHEREAS, In June, 1997, Freddy Wade is retiring as 1-3 superintendent of the Talco-Bogata School District, drawing to a 1-4 close a distinguished tenure in the field of public education that 1-5 has spanned 35 years; and 1-6 WHEREAS, Mr. Wade began his noteworthy career at Drane 1-7 Junior High School in Corsicana in 1962, and he went on to teach 1-8 and coach at schools in New Mexico and Texas, and at Sam Houston 1-9 State University, before serving as principal of Mount Pleasant 1-10 High School for 15 years; and 1-11 WHEREAS, For the past seven years, this respected educator 1-12 has had a profound effect on education in his community as 1-13 superintendent of the Talco-Bogata School District; his tenure has 1-14 been marked by many significant accomplishments, and under his 1-15 watch, students' scores on the Texas Assessment of Academic Skills 1-16 (TAAS) rank among the highest of any school district in the state; 1-17 and 1-18 WHEREAS, Mr. Wade looks forward to an active retirement; he 1-19 and his wife, Vickey, who is also retiring as an educator this year, 1-20 plan on spending time with their daughters and their families, and 1-21 Mr. Wade also intends to make time in his schedule to pursue his 1-22 favorite sports, golf and fly fishing; and 1-23 WHEREAS, Freddy Wade has greatly enhanced the quality of 2-1 education in his community, and he is indeed worthy of special 2-2 praise and recognition at this time; now, therefore, be it 2-3 RESOLVED, That the Senate of the State of Texas, 2-4 75th Legislature, hereby congratulate Freddy Wade on his 2-5 outstanding service as superintendent of the Talco-Bogata School 2-6 District and extend to him warmest best wishes for a happy and 2-7 rewarding retirement; and, be it further 2-8 RESOLVED, That an official copy of this Resolution be 2-9 prepared for Mr. Wade as an expression of high regard by the 2-10 Texas Senate. 2-11 Ratliff 2-12 ______________________________________ 2-13 President of the Senate 2-14 I hereby certify that the above 2-15 Resolution was adopted by the Senate 2-16 on June 2, 1997. 2-17 ______________________________________ 2-18 Secretary of the Senate 2-19 ______________________________________ 2-20 Member, Texas Senate
